On Monday, January 15th, 2007, the Foundation organised an event dedicated to Eleftherios Venizelos at the Athens Concert Hall.
The concert comprised the compositions "Ode to Eleftherios Venizelos" by Giannis Mentzelopoulos (it was composed specially for this concert), "Three Cretan dances" by Nikos Skalkotas, “Cretan feast” by Dimitris Mitropoulos and "March" by Manolis Kalomiris. The ERT National Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonietta-Room Orchestra, the ERT Choir and the Choir of Chania performed, directed by Alexandros Myrat.
During the event, unknown snapshots from the life and work of the Greek politician were projected for the first time.
The event was organised within the context of the Foundation's campaign for the raising of funds for the restoration of the residence of Eleftherios Venizelos in Halepa, Hania and its conversion into a modern Museum.
The campaign is organised under the auspices of the Hellenic Parliament.
Messages were sent by the Foundation Chairman, Irineos Galanakis, former Metropolitan of Kisamos and Selino and the President of the Greek Parliament, Anna Benaki Psarouda, the Benaki Museum Director, Aggelos Delivorias and the CEO of the Foundation Nikolaos Papadakis.
The event was realised under the auspices of the Greek Parliament with the support of ERT and Cretan associations, and the exclusive sponsor was Alpha Copy/NOKIA. ERT, the Second Program, the Third Program and the newspaper TA NEA were the communication sponsors and ANEK LINES and Classical Hotels supported the event.
