Apostolakis Stamatis Ap. (editor), 70 χρόνια επιμνημόσυνοι λόγοι για τον Ελευθέριο Κ. Βενιζέλο (1937-2007) [70 years of commemorative speeches for Eleftherios K. Venizelos (1937-2007)]: book presentation.

The presentation of the book 70 χρόνια επιμνημόσυνοι λόγοι για τον Ελευθέριο Κ. Βενιζέλο (70 years of commemorative speeches for Eleftherios K. Venizelos), published recently by the National Research Foundation "Eleftherios K. Venizelos", the Municipality of Hania and the editions Kalidoskopio, was held at the Foundation (Metropolitan Irineos Galanakis Mansion), on Wednesday, June 18th, 2008.
The event was organised by the Municipality of Hania and the Foundation; the speakers were Iosif Mihelogiannis, former MP of Hania, Georgios Katsanevakis, former Prefect of Hania and Zoi Mitsotaki, member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation. Vagelis Kakatsakis, teacher-writer, read passages of the commemorative speeches. The editor of the book Stamatis Apostolakis, teacher-folklore researcher was acclaimed associate of the Foundation and  closed the event.
After many years of research in libraries and private archives, Stamatis Apostolakis gathered this unique and rare material, reflecting not only the personality and the work of Eleftherios Venizelos but also his influence on the people of his time and the next generations. The speakers, prominent politicians and scholars, present through their speeches the principles and the political virtues of Venizelos and his multilateral work in domestic and foreign policy. At the same time, the historical events that marked his political course in the Cretan, Greek and international scenery are mentioned.
This publication is an important archival source for the researchers of the life and the work of Venizelos, as the speeches cover a long period and present “evaluations” of Eleftherios Venizelos during different periods
