10 Feb Tribute to the Revolution of 1897. A new online production of the Foundation.
“Akrotiri 1897” is the title of the new online production of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” on the occasion of the 124th anniversary of the Revolution, in the context of its online activities during the pandemic. It is based on an idea of the Cretan actor Nikolas Lakiotakis, who lives and works in Paris and Athens. The video presents excerpts from Dante’s Inferno, from the Free Besieged by Dionysios Solomos, and the Diary of the Akrotiri Revolutionary Camp, as well as a letter addressed by Eleftherios Venizelos during the revolution to the “Christian people of the civilized world”.
