14 Feb The New Year’s cake of the Friends Association
The Friends Association of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”cut its king’s pie (vasilopita) at an event held on Friday, January 26, at the “Kanaria” hall in Chania. This year marks twenty years since the establishment of the Association, and its president Argyro Chaniotaki Smyrlaki, during her address, reminisced about the first meeting at the Venizelos residence, where individuals, characterized mainly by their “Venizelian” spirit, decided to contribute in any way they could in the realization of the vision of the late Metropolitan Ireneos Galanakis. In his address, the Director General of the Foundation, Nikolaos Papadakis, thanked the Association for its continuous contributions. He highlighted the local community’s role in promoting the work of the great politician, as well as the significance of establishing branches both within Greece and abroad.
