13 Apr The Cretans of Australia honored the memory of Eleftherios Venizelos.
On the 85th anniversary of the death of Eleftherios Venizelos, the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” – Hania and the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand, proceeded to the creation of a series of memorabilia, for the 20th anniversary of the Foundation and the 40 years since the founding of the Federation.
The first presentation of the memorabilia took place at an event in honor of Eleftherios Venizelos at the Cretan House of Melbourne. The event was honored by the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Emmanouel Kakavelakis, the Municipal Councilor and former Mayor of Moreland Lambros Tapeinos, and the President of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand Antonis Tsourdalakis.
During the event, the short film “85 years without Eleftherios Venizelos”, with Grigoris Valtinos, was screened. The film is a production of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”. Also, a greeting for the event was read by the General Director of the Foundation Nikolaos Papadakis.
The memorabilia will be available for sale in the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” in Halepa, Hania. The release date will be announced soon. The proceeds from the sales, following a proposal by the Federation, will be used to support the Foundation.
