31 May Restoration of Venizelos’ Residence (Halepa, Hania).
The National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” announced that the paternal house of Eleftherios Venizelos in Halepa, Hania, in which he has lived for more than thirty years, is now closed to the public in order to complete its restoration (May 2012). The NSRF and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization, undertook the task of the static restoration and museological conversion of the residence into a modern museum.
As soon as the restoration works end, the Venizelos’ Residence will operate in accordance with the modern museum technologies and equipment. The project aims to the rescue and promotion of the residence and its museum collection, creating at the same time a powerful visitor attraction in the area of Hania.
