“Portraits of Politicians” in Nafplio

The National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” participated in the scientific conference “Portraits of Politicians,” held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Nafplio. The conference explored Greece’s political evolution, highlighting key figures such as Ioannis Kapodistrias, Charilaos Trikoupis, Eleftherios Venizelos, Konstantinos Karamanlis, and Andreas Papandreou, tracing the transformation of Greece from an Ottoman province (1820) into a modern European state.
Distinguished university professors and researchers examined the past, present, and future of Greek politics. Representing the National Foundation was its General Director, Nikolaos Papadakis-Papadis. Also participating were Spyros Vlachopoulos, Professor of Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Antonis Klapsis, Associate Professor of Modern History and International Politics at the University of the Peloponnese, Maria Efthymiou, Professor Emeritus of History at NKUA, Nikos K. Alivizatos, Professor Emeritus of the Law School at NKUA, Vangelis Karamanolakis, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, History and Theory of Historiography at NKUA, Evanthis Hatzivassiliou, Professor of Post-War World History at NKUA and Secretary General of the Parliament Foundation, and Petros Efthymiou, journalist and former Minister.
