31 May Macedonia is supporting the work of the Foundation.
On Saturday, December 14, 2009, a meeting of the Macedonia Regional Branch of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” was held in Thessaloniki, in the presence of the Foundation¢s CEO, Nikolaos Papadakis, the Special Secretary of its BoD, Eleftherios Tsourakis, and members of the Branch¢s EC from the prefectures of Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Kastoria, Kozani, Imathia, Pieria, Pella, Florina and Serres, and the municipalities of Kallikrateia and Axioupoli.
During the meeting, they announced a particularly important donation to the Foundation and the Macedonia Regional Branch was. Eleni G. Doulianaki, Pediatrician and Municipal Counselor of Panorama, Thessaloniki, granted the free use of a 100sq.m space in the city centre of Thessaloniki, so as to accommodate there the Thessaloniki office of the Branch. In her relevant letter the donator writes that, as a Cretan and an admirer of the work of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, she is contributing by this donation to the promotion of the Foundation¢s objectives, as she believes that it is important for the laying out of national research on Venizelos¢ life and work to have a cultural vehicle in North Greece, so as to deal with all the functions of the Foundation¢s dynamic, European, researching and educational work across Greece. Eleni Doulianaki is a member of the Pancretan Fraternity of Macedonia and, upon encouragement of its President, Petros Petrakakis, she decided to support the work of the Foundation.
Moreover, the member of the EC of the Branch Dimitrios Economou granted a 100sq.m space in Axioupoli. The Mayor of Axioupoli, Sonia Symeonidou, informed N. Papadakis that the Municipality will install, at its expense, all the necessary equipment, so that this space form the head office of the Macedonia Regional Branch of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”.
