23 Apr Gold Award in VR Application
The immersive virtual reality experience depicting the assassination attempts on Eleftherios Venizelos was honored with a gold award in the Dark Tourism category at this year’s Tourism Awards. The application was developed by Aegean Solutions S.E. with the scientific guidance of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”. Part of the larger initiative “Digital Monuments and Documents on Eleftherios Venizelos”, the project received funding from the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation” (NSRF 2014-2020). The Tourism Awards are organized by Boussias Events and are under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Hellenic Tourism Organization, and the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises. The award ceremony took place, for the eleventh year, on April 15, 2024, in Athens.
