Discussion about the turbulent history of the Balkans (Mournies 30.08.2024)

A very interesting event about the turbulent history of the Balkans, and how it still affects the foreign policy of Greece, took place on Friday, August 30, 2024, in the courtyard of the Church of Zoodochos Pigi in Mournies, Chania.
The speakers were former Ministers of Foreign Affairs Dora Bakoyannis and Evangelos Venizelos, along with Panteion University professor of International Relations, Kostas Ifantis. The event was moderated by the General Director of the Foundation, Nikolaos Papadakis-Papadis.
The event was held to mark the anniversary of Eleftherios Venizelos’ birth. It provided an opportunity to present the historical context of the Balkans and analyze, among other things, recent developments and Greece’s relations with Albania, North Macedonia, and, of course, Turkey.
Representatives of the local, ecclesiastical, military, and police authorities, as well as a large audience, honored the event with their presence.
