Two-day event for Eleftherios Venizelos in Syros.

A two-day event for Eleftherios Venizelos was realised in Ermoupolis, Syros by the Municipality of Ermoupolis, the Foundation and the Cultural Cretan Association of Syros.
The events comprised a photograph exhibition for Eleftherios Venizelos, the projection of the film "Eleftherios Venizelos' Greece" by V. Maros as well as speeches by Nikolaos Tzitzibakis, former President of the Cultural Cretan Association of Syros, on the topic "The contribution of Syros in the Cretan Revolution of 1866", Antonis Markoulis, honorary President of the Municipal Council of Ermoupolis, on the topic "Eleftherios Venizelos and Ermoupolis" and Nikolaos Papadakis, CEO of the Foundation, on the topic "Brief reference to the reforms of Eleftherios Venizelos".
The event was attended by the Mayor of Hania and Vice Chairman of the Foundation Kiriakos Virvidakis, the Vice Prefect of Hania, Konstantinos Giparis, the Special Secretary of the Foundation, Eleftherios Tsourakis, the President of the Association "Friends of the National Research Foundation 'Eleftherios K. Venizelos'” Georgios Pissadakis and the Vice President Emmanouil Kalogeris, the wing-commander Emmanouil Kelaidis, etc.
Short speeches were given by the MP of Cyclades, Panagiotis Rigas, the Prefect of Cyclades, Dimitris Bailas, the Mayor of Hania, Kiriakos Virvidakis, the Mayor of Ermoupolis, Giannis Dekavallas, the Vice Prefect of Hania, Konstantinos Giparis and the Vice Prefect of Cyclades, Theofilos Lazaros and the President of the Cultural Cretan Association of Syros, Vasilios Kalivas.
The Foundation's presence in Ermoupolis was particularly appreciated by the citizens of Syros, as well as the Cretans of Syros. On the occasion of the the event, the matter of the Eleftherios Venizelos' statue in Ermoupolis was put forward. The Mayors of Ermoupolis and Hania agreed to recommend to their Municipal Councils the fraternisation of the cities due to the historical bonds connecting them. Within the context of the event, the representatives of the Foundation had the opportunity to visit the sites and historical buildings of Ermoupolis that demonstrate its history and its contribution to our country's culture.
