Event for Eleftherios Venizelos (Volos).

A commemoration event for Eleftherios Venizelos was held on November 24th, 2006 (Amphitheatre "Giannis Kordatos" of the University of Thessalia) on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his death. The event was organised by the Municipality of Volos, the University of Thessalia and the Cretan Fraternity of Volos "Arkadi", under the auspices of the Foundation.
The main speaker was Athanasios Karathanasis, History Professor at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Thessaloniki, on the topic "Venizelism in the Prefecture of Magnisia". Speeches were given by Nikolaos Papadakis, CEO of the Foundation, the Mayor of Volos, Kiriakos G. Mitrou, the Chancellor of the University of Thessalia, Konstantinos Bagiatis and the President of the Cretan Fraternity of Volos "Arkadi", Christos Solidakis.
A commemorative ceremony and wreath laying at the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos in the park of Agios Konstantinos took place before the event.
The event comprised film and sound documentaries as well as a photograph exhibition for Eleftherios Venizelos from the Foundation archive, and Cretan songs and dances.
