On Saturday, March 27th, 2004, the award ceremony for the 2nd Panhellenic Student Essay Competition was held in Hania (Megalo Arsenali).
The prize winners were: Theano Iliopoulou, Varvakio Experimental High School (1st prize), Dimitra Ikonomou, "New School” of Argolida (2nd prize) and Manolis Sfiris, High School of Vamos, Chania (3rd prize).
The competition, which was carried out for the second time among third grade high school students on the topic "Eleftherios Venizelos through literature" was organised under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education & Religious Affairs.
In the first part of the event Aphroditi Mitsotaki played piano pieces of Giannis Konstantinidis. The second part started with an introductory speech by the chairman of the Foundation, Metropolitan of Kissamos & Selino, Irineos Galanakis, a speech by the Foundation CEO, Nikolaos E. Papadakis on the topic “The educational work of the Foundation”, followed by a short speech by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education & Religious Affairs, Andreas Karamanos.
The awarding of the students followed and the associates of the Foundation were acclaimed.
At the end of the event the Choir of Hania sang the music piece “Venizelos” (music: Manolis Kalomoiris, lyrics: Aggelos Doxas) under the direction of Giannis Mentzelopoulos.
The award sponsors were Emmanouil Mihailakis and Damaskini Mihailaki.
